Deadline Approaching To Register To Vote In West Marin Elections

Voters in two districts in Marin County will decide on special tax measures.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The deadline is approaching to register to vote in the Aug. 27 special elections for residents in the Bolinas-Stinson Union School District and the Inverness Permanent Road Division No. 2. Both ballot measures pertain to parcel tax assessments and require a two-thirds majority to pass.

Voters can register online or fill out and mail a registration form, which must be postmarked on or before Aug. 12. Both are vote-by-mail elections. There are no polling places.

  • Starting Aug. 12, a secure dropbox will be located outside the Civic Center entrance on Peter Behr Drive and will be available through 8 p.m. Election Day. The box will be outside the south archway, the arch closest to North San Pedro Road.
  • Sign the ballot envelope with a signature that matches the one on the voter registration form.
  • If the Aug. 12 registration deadline is missed, voters may register online or in the Elections Department office, but they must cast their ballot in the Elections Department. Ballots cannot be mailed to those who register late.
  • Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Elections Department. On Election Day, the office will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Voters can check their registration status online by clicking on the on the voter information portal. Call the registrar's 24-hour phone line at 415-473-6456 or 415-473-6448 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays to check registration.
