Dog Rescued From Burning Boat At San Rafael Yacht Harbor
The boat was completely engulfed by flames shortly after the dog was pulled to safety, police said.
SAN RAFAEL, CA – A police officer rescued a dog from a burning boat Thursday morning at San Rafael Yacht Harbor.
San Rafael police arrived at 555 Francisco Blvd. East shortly before 5:30 a.m. to support San Rafael firefighters at the scene, according to police. Firefighters were working to extinguish the flames but could not reach the dog, which was spotted cowering in a small area of the deck in an attempt to escape the rapidly-approaching flames.
Officer Travis Ruggles paddled a small row boat toward the burning boat to save the dog.

"He was able to reach the very frightened dog and pull him to safety," police said on social media. "The dog was reunited with his very appreciative human."

No injuries were reported and no other boats were damaged in the fire.
