Dominican University's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is a membership-driven program designed to provide intellectually stimulating opportunities for adults in our community who are 50 years or older. The OLLI Institute brings an exciting variety of courses from topics such as film, art history, politics, and literature to its summer session, one of which is the Post Impressionist Art: Masterpieces from the Musee d'Orsay course, taking place on Fridays from September 17, through October 22, 2010.
120 masterpieces of Post-Impressionist art from the Musee d'Orsay's permanent collection will be on view September 25, 2010 - January 18, 2011 at the de Young Museum. This three-week course will examine specific works by the Post-Impressionist masters featured in the exhibition. These include late works by the Impressionist painters Monet and Renoir, followed by the more individualistic styles of the early modern masters including Cézanne, Gauguin, Toulouse Lautrec and van Gogh, as well as the Nabis, particularly Denis, Serusier, Bonnard and Vuillard. The course will also focus on the Orsay's collection of Pointillist painters including work by Seurat, Signac, and Cross. For more information contact the OLLI Institute.
