Family Displaced After San Rafael Apartment Fire

The Red Cross assisted the displaced family.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – An early morning apartment fire left a family displaced Tuesday in San Rafael.

The fire was reported around 4:15 a.m. at 10 Labrea Way, according to the San Rafael Fire Department. Crews from San Rafael, as well as Marinwood and Novato fire departments and the Marin County Sheriff's Office responded to the building, where the family had already safely evacuated the unit.

Smoke detectors alerted the family, fire officials said. The blaze spread within the attic area and was quickly knocked down by firefighters.

No injuries were reported.

"Good, quick work by firefighters limited further damage," fire officials said on social media.

The cause of the blaze remained under investigation, but officials suspect the fire sparked due to a faulty electrical fixture.
