Flooding Possible As Storm Returns To SMC: NWS
Flooding may occur in low-lying, poor drainage and urban areas, officials said.
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Widespread rainfall is set to return to the Bay Area Monday night, continuing through Wednesday morning, with the North Bay and Peninsula expected to see the heaviest impacts, according to the National Weather Service.
While the rain is largely considered beneficial, residents in Marin County and San Mateo County should prepare for possible minor flooding in low-lying, poor drainage, and urban areas, the NWS reported.
Rain and gusty winds will arrive Monday night, according to the NWS. The North Bay is expected to bear the brunt of the storm, with total rainfall potentially exceeding 2.5 inches. The bulk of the heavy rain is forecasted for Tuesday, raising the risk of flooding across both the North Bay and the Peninsula, the NWS reported.

Forecasters warn that the unsettled weather pattern is likely to persist in the extended outlook, with the North Bay continuing to receive the most significant rainfall over the next week. However, a shift toward warmer and drier conditions is anticipated for the first week of March, according to the weather service.
Impacts and safety concerns include slick roadways and ponding, along with the possibility of minor flooding in vulnerable areas, especially in the North Bay, NWS reported.
