The Marin Art Festival will go on as scheduled! The Indiegogo fundraising campaign turned out to be the spark that fueled a a surge of public awareness and passion for the festival. In addition to many generous donations on the fundraising site, the festival received some private checks that brought the total raised to nearly $20,000.
Shy of the goal, but enough to allow the event to move forward - The Show will go on! Donations are still being accepted on the event website: marinartfestival.com. Event is June 15 and 16 at the Lagoon Park at the Marin Center Fairgrounds in San Rafael from 10 to 6 each day. Tickets are $10 and free for kids 14 and under. The festival is a fabulous way to get a sampling of what’s going on all over the nation in painting, sculpture, jewelry and fine ceramic. Truly a masterpiece in itself, the Marin Art Festival combines a serious professional art exhibit with the natural beauty and casual atmosphere of a lawn party .
In addition to the 200 artists displaying their works in bright pavilions all over the grounds, the entertainment includes world, R&B, Rock and Jam music designed to get folks dancing at the main stage. The popular Reggae band Lumanation and Jam Band Moonalice are a few of the bands scheduled to play. Unique to the Marin Art Festival are the magical stilt - walkers, clowns and strolling musicians.
