Marin-Based Youth In Arts To Host Discussion Around Identity

The discussion will feature Austin Willacy and Shahrzad Khorsandi, two mentor artists.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Youth in Arts, a San Rafael-based arts education nonprofit, is hosting a virtual event next Thursday featuring Austin Willacy and Shahrzad Khorsandi, two mentor artists.

The discussion will center around helping young people discover and craft their identities. Willacy is an award-winning singer and songwriter, and Khorsandi is a pioneer in Persian dance who has taught with Youth in Arts for more than a decade.

“Our teaching artists are doing such an extraordinary job of bringing themselves and their creative identities to the work of cultivating youth identity,” Youth Arts Board Member Suzanne Reich said in a news release. “We wanted to create a virtual space for our mentor artists to share their experiences across disciplines.”
