Marin County Fair Breaks Fourth Of July Attendance Record
Wednesday's attendance broke a record set in 1984.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Nearly 105,000 people attended the Marin County Fair this year in San Rafael, generating about $1.5 million in ticket revenue.
A total of 86,936 people purchased tickets to the five-day fair, while 8,091 people received complimentary tickets to the "All for One & Fun for All" themed-event from June 30 through July 4, according to the Marin County Department of Cultural Affairs.
The biggest day was July 4, when 30,592 people celebrated Fourth of July at the fair, officials said. Wednesday's attendance broke a record set in 1984.

More fair facts:
- 9,915 children admitted free, including 6,770 on Kids Free Day (July 2)
- More than 15,000 items were entered in the competitive exhibits program, from fine art to cookies and trash-to-treasure creations
- 6,400 corn dogs sold at Rocket Dog
- 6,300 organic lemons squeezed by Phil's Organic Lemonade
- 1,680 Hawaiian pineapple teriyaki bowls sold
- 105 artworks sold in the fine art and exhibits area totaling $37,000 in art sales ($21,000 on the Fourth of July alone); the majority of the works were by Marin County artists
- More than 91 percent waste diversion with recycling and composting efforts
- The petting zoo featured 40 animals, from alpacas to zebus
- 12 pigs ran a total of 60 laps in the Great American Pig Races
- Live music included the Beach Boys, Los Lobos, LeAnn Rimes, Eddie Money and Michael Franti & Spearhead.
