Marin County, North Bay Under Red Flag Warning And Heat Advisory

Hot temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds are expected this weekend.

NORTH BAY, CA – With hot temperatures, low humidity and gusty winds expected this weekend, the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, including the North Bay.

The red flag warning is in effect from 11 a.m. Saturday through 8 p.m. Sunday for the North Bay mountains and East Bay hills, according to the National Weather Service in San Francisco. Residents are urged to refrain from any outdoor fires or burns, as any wildfires that develop will spread quickly.

"A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly," NWS officials said. "A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior."

Mt. Tamalpais watershed lands are closed to public motor vehicle traffic on Sky Oaks Road beyond the Sky Oaks Ranger Station, Natalie Coffin Greene Park and the Leo Cronin parking lot gate.

Widespread temperatures in the mid 90s to low 100s in the impacted areas are expected, according to the National Weather Service. NWS officials warned of moderate to high risk of heat-related illness, especially for vulnerable populations during the day Saturday.
