Marin Deputies Battle Brush Fire Threatening Homes
Marin County firefighters extinguished the blaze after deputies cut brush, doused flames, and evacuated residents.
MARIN COUNTY, CA — A brush fire threatened a home and nearby properties early Friday. The early-morning fire closing in on an Inverness home was held back by two Marin County sheriff's deputies.
The deputies arrived on scene about 2:33 a.m., according to the Marin County sheriff's office.
The deputies doused flames and helped cut brush helping to avoid damages and injuries as the fire spread toward the home and other properties.

The deputies began evacuations, checked nearby structures, and secured the scene as Marin County firefighters put out the blaze.
The Inverness fire broke out while Marin County and other fire crews continue efforts to put out the Chileno Valley Fire, which has burned 341 acres.

Marin authorities said the Chileno Fire is about 95 percent contained.
Fire crews continue to reinforce containment lines and extinguish hot spots. The cause of that fire remains under investigation.
