Marin Firefighters Headed To Thomas Fire In Southern California
Firefighters from Marin County will help protect homes from the fast-moving Thomas Fire in Ventura County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Firefighters from Marin County are headed to Southern California to help protect homes and save lives from the fast-moving Thomas Fire that has scorched more than 45,000 acres in Ventura County.
Ten engines comprising 44 firefighters from Marin County Fire, Kentfield, Ross Valley, San Rafael and Tiburon left Tuesday morning, Marin County Fire Battalion Chief Bret McTigue said.
"They're already on the road," he said.

Five of the engines were from the OIS strike team, McTigue said, while Marin County sent another five engines as well as chief officers to assist in command of the fire.

The Thomas Fire was reported around 6:25 p.m. Monday. It started north of Santa Paula near state Highway 150. The blaze was 0 percent contained as of Tuesday morning, according to Cal Fire officials.
