Tax Bills Sent To Marin County Property Owners
The first installment of property taxes is due Nov. 1 and must be paid on or before Dec. 10 in Marin County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Property tax bills were sent last week to Marin County property owners. The Tax Collector's Office sent 96,158 bills totaling $1,157,227,989, according to the county.
Property tax bills are mailed in late September every year and can be paid in two installments. The first installment is due Nov. 1 and must be paid on or before Dec. 10 to avoid penalty, according to the county. The second installment must be paid by April 10, 2020. Both installments may be paid with the first installment.
County officials encouraged property owners to pay early to avoid penalties. Property owners who do not receive a tax bill, especially those who have recently purchased real estate, should contact the Tax Collector's Office at 415-473-6133.

The Property Tax office is in Suite 202 of the Marin County Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays, but hours will be extended from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 10. The Assessor's Office is in Suite 208.

Payment postponement is an option for seniors and people living with disabilities. The State Controller's Office accepts Property Tax Postponement applications. To be eligible, you must:
- Be at least 62, or blind, or have a disability;
- Own and occupy the home as your primary place of residence;
- Have a total household income of $35,500 or less; and
- Have at least 40 percent equity in the property.
