Robbery Suspect Arrested, Second Suspect Still On The Loose

San Rafael Police have arrested a man who they say beat and robbed two people on April 19. Now they're trying to track down another suspect.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael Police have arrested a man who they say was behind an attack and robbery Sunday night. Now they're searching for a second suspect involved in the attack.

According to police, the attack happened around 9 p.m. on April 19. Victims told police it all started when they got into some type of argument with two men at Pickleweed Park. After the argument, the victims left the park and around 9 had been walking down Canal street when the two men from the park came up behind them and attacked. Victims said the two men kicked and beat them with their fists. Though one of the attackers was holding a knife at the time of the attack no one was stabbed.

After the attack, one of the men stole a victims phone and they took off.

Police say, based on interviews and evidence collected at the scene of the crime, they quickly identified one of the suspects as Julio Cesar Gomez Bolanos and began searching for Bolanos, but were unable to find him nearby.

Then on April 22, an SRPD officer saw Bolanos at a 7-11 on B street. The officer entered the store and arrested him, police say at the time of his arrest Bolanos was carrying methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He has been booked into the Marin County Jail for robbery, participating in a gang, violating probation, and possession of a controlled substance and illegal drug paraphernalia.
