Salvation Army Of San Rafael Continues WWI 'Donut Day' Tradition
Donuts will be delivered to first responders, police, fire & Coast Guard throughout Main County - an annual event dating to World War I.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — The Salvation Army of San Rafael, in keeping with an annual tradition that dates to World War I, on Friday will deliver donuts as a show of thanks to first responders, police, fire and Coast Guard crews at stations throughout Marin County.
"The donut deliveries are a way to show appreciation to those who put their lives on the line for our community," a Salvation Army spokesperson said.
The first Friday in June, dubbed "National Donut Day," began when Salvation Army “Donut Lassies” hand-delivered the sweet treats to soldiers on the front lines during World War I, according to officials.
