Smoke From Prescribed Burn May Be Visible Wednesday In Marin County
A prescribed burn is scheduled to take place on Mount Tam this week after the weather scuttled earlier plans.

MARIN COUNTY, CA—A prescribed burn to reduce wildfire fuels on Mount Tamalpais and the surrounding watershed could get underway as soon as Wednesday, according to the county. The operation was postponed last week due to weather conditions.
The Marin County Fire Department will work with California State Parks and Marin Water to manage the fire operation, supported by the state's Forest Health Program. Prescribed burns are part of a broader approach to managing fire fuels and maintaining an ecologically healthy forest and watershed.
Once the weather is favorable, crews will deploy near Mountain Theater on East Ridgecrest Boulevard to conduct the burn between the Rock Spring trailhead and Quarry parking lot.

The fire operation will follow the rules outlined by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, but neighbors may notice smoke coming from the area, and officials ask community members to refrain from calling 911.
The county Office of Emergency Management will share more specifics about the prescribed burn on the morning it begins.
