Strong-Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested In Sausalito

Police said the suspect, a San Rafael man, resisted arrest and a Taser stun gun had to be used to take him into custody. (BREAKING)

SAUSALITO, CA – A San Rafael man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of a strong-armed robbery in Sausalito.

Jhonny Abel Riverahernandez, 23, was arrested after officers responded at about 2 p.m. Thursday to the 200 block of Caledonia Street on a report of a robbery, according to Sausalito police.

Police said a woman reported a man she didn't know had put his arm around her neck, told her not to move and then took her purse. The suspect then fled the area in a maroon SUV.

A few minutes later, a Marin County sheriff's deputy located the suspect's vehicle on Harbor Drive.

The vehicle was pulled over, and the deputy ordered the suspect, later identified as Riverahernandez, out of the vehicle.

Police said the suspect resisted arrest and a Taser stun gun had to be used to take him into custody.

During a subsequent search of the suspect's vehicle, investigators located some of the victim's property.

Police said the suspect discarded some of the property near the scene of the initial crime.
