Tax Measure On March Ballot For Kentfield School District Voters
Voter information guides for the March 6 special election were mailed Thursday to registered voters in the district.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Voters in the Kentfield School District will get to decide on a special tax assessment this March.
The tax would cost $1,498 annually per parcel, with a 3 percent automatic increase, over a 10-year term. If approved, Measure A would go into effect July 1, a year before the current parcel tax expires.
The Kentfield School District has 1,230 students at two sites, Bacich Elementary School and Kent Middle School, according to the district website.

Money raised by the measure would go to the district's schools and would not be used for administrators' salaries. An independent oversight committee comprised of local community members would review how the funds are spent.

Voters will receive a postage-paid envelope along with their ballot, and must sign the envelope before mailing it back. The ballot envelope must also be postmarked on or before Election Day.
Other important dates for the special election:
- Feb. 5: Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters in the district. This is also the first day to vote in the county's Elections Department between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in Suite 121 at the Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
- Feb. 20: Starting on this day and until 8 p.m. on Election Day, eligible residents who are not registered may come to the Elections Department to register and vote.
- Feb. 27: The last day the Elections Department can mail a ballot. After this day, voters must get a ballot in person at the Elections Department.
- March 6: There are no polling places for this election. Ballot return envelopes must be signed and postmarked on or before this day, or dropped at the Marin County Elections Department by 8 p.m. Voting is available in the Elections Department from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day.
