Tip Leads To Child Porn Arrest In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL, CA – An online tip resulted in the arrest of a Marin County man for possession of child pornography, authorities announced.
Daniel Hostrup, 25, of San Rafael, was arrested at his home after authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday morning, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
Detectives launched an investigation after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to sheriff's Lt. Steve de la O. The "cyber tip" included information about suspected child pornography on a server. During a search of the residence, detectives found several files on a computer that contained suspected child porn, de la O said.

Hostrup was booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of possessing material depicting obscene images of a minor.
"The investigation in ongoing to identify potential victims portrayed in the images and to forensically examine the electronic evidence," de la O said in a press release. "There is no initial indication that any of the victims are from Marin County."
