Woman Suspected Of Stabbing Senior Wanted By San Rafael Police

BREAKING: Do you recognize this woman? Unique Lashonda Gaimes, 26, is suspected of stabbing a man at a senior housing facility, police said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Authorities are seeking the public's help in locating a woman suspected of stabbing a senior in San Rafael.

A resident at a senior housing facility called San Rafael police around 6 a.m. Tuesday to report a man crying in pain, according to the San Rafael Police Department. Police responded to the complex in the West End neighborhood and found the victim, a 66-year-old San Rafael resident, in his apartment with multiple stab wounds to his head, face, neck and chest.

The victim identified the suspect as Unique Lashonda Gaimes, a 26-year-old woman with past addresses in Pittsburg and San Rafael, according to police. The suspect and victim have reportedly known each other for more than five years.

According to police, Gaimes was an invited guest at the victim's home and stayed overnight. She is suspected of stabbing the victim early in the morning in his bedroom without provocation.

"Officers rendered medical aid to the victim and called for back-up in an attempt to locate the suspect," San Rafael police Lt. Alan Piombo said.

Authorities searched the city and San Rafael Transit Center, where detectives learned Gaimes boarded a Golden Gate Transit Bus between 6-6:30 a.m. and exited at the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station in El Cerrito.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating Gaimes, who was described by the victim as black, 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 112 pounds. She was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans and high-top tennis shoes.

"It is believed that the weapon may have been recovered; however, Gaimes has demonstrated she is violent and could be dangerous if contacted," Piombo said. "Do not contact her if she is seen."
