Woodward Fire: 3,269 Acres Burned, 17% Contained In Marin County
An evacuation warning was lifted Saturday for a portion of Marin County affected by the Woodward Fire.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Crews fighting the Woodward Fire made headway overnight, bringing the containment level to 17 percent Sunday. Controlled burning operations also began in Olema Valley, creating heavy smoke in the area.
The fire has burned 3,269 acres and had 537 personnel working to suppress the fires Sunday, including 13 fire crews, 33 engines, six helicopters, five dozers, two planes and three masticators.

The evacuation warning for the Bolinas area was lifted at noon, from state Highway 1 south of Five Brooks, east to the Bolinas Ridge and south through the communities of Bolinas and Dog Town, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
All other evacuation orders and warnings around the fire remained in effect.

"Residents are encouraged to remain aware, ensure they are registered for www.alertmarin.org as this fire and the associated weather may require changes to areas covered by evacuation orders or warnings," the Sheriff's Office said in an alert.
The fire, ignited by lightning, sparked Aug. 18 just south of the Woodward Trail, a few miles west of the Bear Valley Visitor Center in Olema and about a mile inland from Limantour Beach.
