Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in the Tri-Valley

From Dublin's big weekend St. Patrick's Day festival to smaller brew pub celebrations, the Tri-Valley celebrates all things Irish this weekend and all next week.

Lime, moss, emerald, army, chartreuse, forest—pick any shade you like. Then get your green on and head to one of the many St. Patrick’s Day happenings this weekend and all next week.

Here’s your guide to Paddy’s Day best bets in the Tri-Valley:

Outpost Sports Bar and Grill
Patrons can try their hand at a "Green" Beer Pong tournament. Plus, the bar will offer $4 Guinness and $6 Irish Car Bombs. They'll also serve corned beef & cabbage, mashed potatoes and carrots for $7. There will be live DJ music.

The Hop Yard (San Ramon and Pleasanton)
Lots of Irish beers on tap: Guinness, Harp Irish Lager, Murphy's Irish Stout, Smithwick's Irish Amber. Also, helpings of corned beef & cabbage and corned beef sandwich.

St. Patty’s Day Show
Tommy T’s Comedy Steakhouse in Pleasanton on March 17, at 7:30 p.m.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with some laughter during Tommy T’s “Kabeezy & St. Patty’s Day Show.” DJ music and dancing follows the show at 9:30. This is an adults-only party: You must be 21 or over to attend. To order tickets, go to http://www.tommyts.com/pleasanton.


Norm’s Place in Danville on March 17, starting at 12 p.m.
Party with Leprechauns, drink green beer, watch Irish dancers, listen to bag pipers and drummers and dine on Corned Beef and Cabbage. Norm’s also features its new “Shenanigans Lounge,” where you can play beer pong, drink at the bar, listen to music or lounge on Norm’s couches.

St. Patrick’s Day at Main Street Brewery
Pleasanton Main Street Brewery on March 17, starting at 3 p.m.
Enjoy live music with Public Eye (at 7:30 p.m.) as you dine on Irish-themed food like Corned Beef and Cabbage, drink green beer and other festive drink specials.

Irish Specials at Redcoats
Redcoats in Pleasanton on March 17, starting at 2:30 p.m.
Redcoats may be a British pub, but it’s turning Irish for a day with Corned Beef and Cabbage, $5 fish and chips, $4 Black & Tan pints and DJ music. (The food and drink specials run from 2:30 – 6 p.m.)

Guiness Pint Night at First Street Alehouse
First Street Alehouse in Livermore on March 17, starting at 4 p.m.
Drink Ireland’s most famous stout during First Street Alehouse’s Guinness Pint Night. Get a pint, a Guinness glass to keep and a Guinness t-shirt for $15 or just the pint and glass for $8. And yes, there will be Corned Beef and Cabbage.

St. Patrick's Day Karaoke
Swirl on the Square in Livermore on March 17
Green beer not your thing? Celebrate the day of green by drinking local wines and participating in karaoke contests. Prizes will be given out so don't forget to wear your green.

St. Patrick’s Day at Gallagher’s
Gallagher’s Dublin Pub in Dublin on March 17, from 6 – 10 p.m.
Gallagher’s lives up to its Irish name with a big party on St. Patrick’s Day. The bar sets up an enclosed patio for people in green listening to live music (Wett Willy), drinking green beer and Irish whiskey.

Irish Celebration at Pete's
Pete's Brass Rail and Car Wash in Danville on March 17
Pete's decks its restaurant in green and brings in a live bag piper for festive Irish music. It also features Guinness on tap, Corned Beef and Cabbage and drink specials.


Blackhawk Plaza in Danville on March 17, from 6 – 8 p.m.
Head over to the Blackhawk Plaza on St. Patrick’s Day for family-friendly fun, including live music, face painting, party favors and prizes for the most creative “wearin’ o’ the green.”


Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton on March 19 at 2 and 8 p.m.
Miss St. Patrick’s Day? Don’t worry, you can still celebrate a couple days later when Pleasanton’s Firehouse Arts Center hosts two concerts of traditional from Ireland and Scotland.
