Between now and February 3, residents are invited to share their thoughts by identifying a Community of Interest or submitting a Draft Map of district boundaries:
- Identify one or more Communities of Interest
- Draw a draft map with one or more new district boundaries

New California Recycling Law to Reduce Organics in Landfills
On January 1, 2022, a new food waste law went into effect. SB 1383 is California’s Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Strategy. This aims to reduce the generation of methane, a harmful greenhouse gas that results from the decomposition of organics disposed at the landfill.
The State of California is mandating these reductions to address climate change impacts.
This effort is essentially to ensure all organics are composted (aerobically; with oxygen) instead of landfilled (anaerobically; without oxygen), and that surplus edible food is rescued to feed hungry people instead of going to waste.

The California Department of Resources, Recycling, and Recovery, also known as CalRecycle, has developed many resources regarding all aspects of SB 1383, which can be found on the CalRecycle website.

Friday Foreign Film Series Tickets on Sale
Up First: Pain & Glory shows Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m.
The Friday Foreign Film's January 21 showing of The Guilty has been rescheduled to March 4. The first film in the series is Pain & Glory on Friday, February 11 at 7 p.m. Tickets for this show and the series are available at SanRamonPerformingArts.com.
Friday Foreign Film Series presented by the San Ramon Arts Foundation. Experience unique settings, interesting thought-provoking plots, and cultures from around the world in each of the award-willing films. Each evening, a moderator provides a brief introduction to the film and then leads a discussion afterward. Movies are subtitled in English. Minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets include light refreshments. Advance tickets purchase suggested. Tickets are $10 per show or $45 for the series (5 shows).

California’s Eviction Protections Changed October 1: Renters and Landlords Impacted by COVID-19 Should Still Apply for Rent Relief
The CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program covers 100% of unpaid rent and utilities for eligible renters and their landlords who have been impacted by COVID-19. The program will continue accepting applications until all funds are exhausted.
As of October 1, 2021, eligible renters who receive an eviction notice have 15 business days to apply for the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program and notify their landlord that they have applied (or intend to). Applying for assistance may reduce their risk of eviction.
As of October 1, 2021, landlords seeking an eviction based on non-payment of COVID-related debt or of rental debt incurred between October 1, 2021 and March 30, 2022, must prove that that they have applied to the COVID-19 Rent Relief program, and that the application has been denied or the renter has failed to complete their section, before a legal eviction can take place. Eligible renters who are at risk of eviction are urged to apply, even if their landlord has not applied.
Interested landlords and renters can check eligibility and apply at HousingIsKey.com or by calling 833-430-2122. For assistance in another language, or to verify eligibility, get help with an application or upload paperwork, applicants are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a local organization by calling 833-687-0967.
Assistance from the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program does NOT count as earned income for renters and will NOT affect eligibility for any other California state benefit assistance programs, such as CalFresh and CalWORKS. Applying to the program will not impact your residency status or your path to citizenship.
