Fire On BART Train: Blue, Green, Orange Lines Delayed, Some Stations Closed

BART officials this morning are reporting system-wide delays due to an earlier fire on a train in the East Bay.

There is currently no service between the Bay Fair and the Lake Merritt stations, officials said. The Fruitvale, Coliseum, Lake Merritt and San Leandro stations are currently closed.

The disruption is affecting trains on the Blue, Green and Orange lines. The Yellow and Red lines heading into San Francisco from the East Bay are not being affected, officials said.

The Trains impacted by the delays are in the south East Bay. Around 4:38 a.m., there was a fire on a three-car train heading from Richmond to Fremont, and BART had to shut down the third rail. Firefighters have responded to the scene.

There were no other details immediately available about the fire.

BART is working to restore service to the affected lines.
