Park of the Week: San Ramon Sports Park

One of San Ramon's biggest prides and joys is the city's amazing park system. Our city has a whopping 53 parks spread throughout our vast community, ranging from small neighborhood playgrounds to multi-acre, multi-feature parks.

Each week we'll be highlighting one of our city parks, showing you photos, listing park features, and telling you what's special about them. We have so many parks that it will take Patch more than a year to profile each of them. So if you have a special park you'd like featured next, let us know!

Park of the Week: San Ramon Sports Park

San Ramon Sports Park on Sherwood Way is an athlete's dream, with more than 11d acres of state-of-the-art facilities. As one of the largest in the San Ramon system, the park has something for sports fans of any type excepting perhaps, ice hockey buffs.

One of the space's most impressive features is Tiffany Roberts Field, the city's first public synthetic soccer field. Always perfectly manicured, the field is fully lighted and features grandstand bleachers large enough to hold several cheering sections, as well as an adjacent warm-up area. In order to keep Tiffany Roberts pristine, please be sure to read (and follow) the guidelines posted at the field's entrance.

Soccer stars aren't the only ones who will have a ball at the San Ramon Sports Park. The park also contains a huge baseball complex with two lighted baseball diamonds, multiple bleachers and a pretty courtyard area where snacks are sold during games. On the opposite side of the park are two full-sized basketball courts, which are lined with benches and bright grassy lawns.

Picnic areas with new barbecues are interspersed amongst the lushly landscaped lawns. Continuing with the park's sporting spirit, some of the picnic spots feature tabletop chess and checkerboards. Restrooms, water fountains and beverage vending machines provide additional comfort and convenience for park goers. The entire park is also surrounded by a walking trail.

Overall, San Ramon Sports Park is a great excuse to get outside and get active.
