SAN RAMON, CA — A San Ramon student is receiving international recognition for her free workshops on topics like AI, coding, public speaking, digital literacy, and more.

Dougherty Valley junior Adya Gupta is the founder of Impactt Kids, a nonprofit focused on making technology, AI literacy, coding, debate, and digital safety accessible to underserved students and seniors. She has led workshops across the Bay Area in places like the Tracy Library, Escalon Library, Watermark Senior Center, and Emerald Valley Senior Living on topics like beginner coding, AI fundamentals, and internet safety and scam awareness.

Gupta has also partnered with schools and nonprofits in India and Brazil to lead virtual workshops on topics like intermediate coding, AI concepts, public speaking and debate fundamentals, and digital safety. Gupta leads weekly or biweekly workshops, and is assisted by high school and college volunteers.

She plans to lead further workshops on topics like AI literacy for middle school students, advanced coding for returning students, and digital safety and prevention sessions for seniors.

Her work has been recognized by leaders like Dr. Shikha Darbari, the former chief commissioner of income tax in India. She has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Surevin International School in India and Bharat AI Labs for international mentorship and curriculum development.

In 2024, Gupta was one of the youngest students to speak at the United Nations General Assembly’s Science Summit, where she presented her work educating underserved students in India.

“We believe that every child and senior, regardless of their geographic location or background, deserves access to quality learning opportunities. By providing essential tools, training for educators, and innovative programs for schools and senior centers, we equip young learners with critical thinking and technological skills while ensuring that seniors gain the confidence to navigate today’s digital world safely,” Impactt Kids said on its website.
