Rotary Clubs Across Sonoma County Support Sonoma County Imagination Library

SANTA ROSA, Calif., August 18, 2026 — Rotary clubs across Sonoma County are supporting Sonoma County Imagination Library, which partners with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to provide free books to local children from birth to age five. Community members can support the effort by attending “A Dolly Good Time” on Saturday, August 29, at the Friedman Event Center in Santa Rosa.

The adults-only evening will feature a barbecue dinner by Sweet T’s, live music by Dustin Saylor, dancing, a silent auction and a Dolly Parton look-alike contest. Doors open at 5 p.m., dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit Sonoma County Imagination Library. Approximately 7,000 children—about 30% of those eligible countywide—were enrolled as of February 2026. With annual program costs approaching $100,000, the fundraiser will help the local program continue mailing a free, age-appropriate book to each enrolled child every month.

“Rotary’s support of Sonoma County Imagination Library reflects our commitment to education and to creating opportunities for every child,” said Jeff Kolin, governor of Rotary District 5130. “When children have books of their own and families read together, we help build the foundation for success in school and throughout life.”

Since the program launched locally in 2023, Sonoma County Rotary clubs have made substantial financial contributions and multiyear commitments to help establish and expand the program. Together, participating Rotary clubs have donated or committed more than $50,000.

·Rotary Club of Santa Rosa.

The local program is supported by Community Foundation Sonoma County, First 5 Sonoma County, Rotary clubs and other community organizations. Community Foundation Sonoma County administers the funds, while local partners provide financial support, outreach and enrollment assistance.

Since the program launched locally in 2023, participating Rotary clubs have donated or committed more than $50,000. They include the Rotary clubs of Sebastopol Sunrise, Sonoma Valley, Sebastopol, Sonoma Springs and Santa Rosa. Beth Fox, past president of the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, coordinates the District 5130 effort.
