A 40-year-old Woman was arrested on DUI Charges Following a Rollover Crash (crimevoice.com) — A 40-year-old Santa Barbara woman was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and child endangerment after her SUV hit two parked cars and rolled onto its side near downtown, trapping her and a young child. Santa Barbara police, firefighters, and paramedics rescued the pair and took them to Cottage Hospital, and she was later booked into county jail and released on $100,000 bail.
   

2. 'Move with MADD' Santa Barbara 3K Community Walk & Fundraiser to Prevents Impaired Driving (independent.com) — Santa Barbara residents are invited to join the 3rd annual Move With MADD 3K walk on Sunday, Oct. 18 at Chase Palm Park Field, raising funds to fight impaired driving locally. With recent crashes killing eight and injuring hundreds in the county, organizers hope survivors, families, law enforcement, and neighbors will walk together to support prevention and community safety programs.
   

3. Water deal gets initial green light: 40% of Montecito's State Water rights pledged to North County housing (newspress.com) — Montecito Water District has unanimously backed a $40 million plan to sell more than 40% of its State Water Project rights to the proposed 4,000-home Solomon Hills development in Santa Barbara's North County. Supporters say the deal will fund local projects like desalination and groundwater banking, while some Montecito residents worry about relying more heavily on Santa Barbara's desalinated supply and future drought risks.
   

4. Santa Barbara High Flag Football Captures 13-0 Victory in First-Place Showdown Against Pacifica (independent.com) — Santa Barbara High's flag football team shut out Pacifica 13-0 at Peabody Stadium, pulling into a tie for first in the Pacific View League. Led by standout plays from Elina Stump and Laila Hernandez, the Dons notched their fourth straight shutout and now head to a Hueneme tournament before resuming league play against Channel Islands on Oct. 6.
   

5. More than 2,000 customers in Santa Barbara County without power after public safety power shutoff (newspress.com) — More than 2,000 Santa Barbara County customers are without power after Southern California Edison initiated a public safety shutoff due to high wildfire risk, with possible additional outages ahead. Residents can visit resource centers at the Residence Inn in Goleta and the Veterans Memorial Building in Carpinteria for support while crews wait out fire danger and then complete roughly eight hours of maintenance.
