$17 Million For Transportation Projects: Santa Cruz Co.
Community input is sought on projects proposed by the county, as well as the cities of Capitola, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley and Watsonville.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — County officials are looking for community input on several local transportation projects proposed for approximately $17 million in regional shares of state and federal funding.
Projects proposed for these new funds include:
- Local road preservation – pavement repairs
- Bicycle and sidewalk projects
- New Santa Cruz METRO ParaCruz vans
- Highway 1/9 intersection improvements
- Highway 1 auxiliary lane projects from Soquel Drive to State Park

A public hearing on the projects, led by the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission, is scheduled Thursday, Dec. 5 at the County Board of Supervisors Chambers, 701 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz. The hearing will begin no sooner than 10 a.m. and will be preceded by a staff presentation.
Public input on projects proposed for the funds is welcomed and encouraged, according to the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission. Written comments received by 12 p.m. on December 4; by email to info@sccrtc.org; by mail to 1523 Pacific Ave., Santa Cruz, CA 95060; or by fax to 831-460-6178, will be included in the materials provided to the RTC board at the Dec. 5 meeting.
