Jesus Covarrubias, 26, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run on Monday after he came to the county jail and allegedly "indicated he was responsible for the fatal hit-and-run collision," the police department said.

The victim in the collision was Alexandra Arceneaux, 20. She was walking across state Highway 1 with friends after a Halloween party and was not in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a silver-colored Honda sport utility vehicle at about 1:55 a.m. on Oct. 30, according to police.
The vehicle driver immediately drove away, police said. Arceneaux was hospitalized with critical injuries and died of the injuries on Saturday.
The Police Department said officers also recovered the 2011 silver Honda CR-V allegedly driven in the collision. It was found in Boulder Creek on a turnout near Junction Park.
