Counterfeit Bills, Ammo Found On Convicted Felon: SCC Sheriff

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA — A convicted felon on probation was arrested early Thursday morning on Highway 9 after he was found with rifle ammunition and numerous counterfeit $100 bills, according to Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Sgt. Dee Baldwin.
Paul Vanhook, 55, of Santa Cruz was pulled over by a patrol deputy on the highway at Encinal Street around 2 a.m., Baldwin said.
During the traffic stop, deputies searched Vanhook and discovered the counterfeit bills and about 25 rounds of 7mm rifle ammo hidden in his trunk, according to Baldwin. The efforts were helped along by a Santa Cruz Police officer and an SCPD K9 that sniffed out the vehicle and alerted deputies.

Vanhook was arrested and taken to county jail.
