Drugs, Gun, Cash Seized From Santa Cruz County Woman on Axford Road

Her three kids, ages 4 to 13, were placed with Child Protective Services.

Federal and county law enforcement agencies worked together to serve a search warrant at a Santa Cruz County residence on Friday and seized drugs, a gun and cash, officials from the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Narcotic Task Force said Saturday.

The team worked with members of the regional Gang Task Force and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to execute the warrant at around 12:30 in the afternoon, SCCACT officials said.

Law enforcement personnel arrested Norma Garcia, 31, in the 3300 block of Axford Road in Santa Cruz County, near the border with Capitola, SCCACT officials said.

Investigators seized 125 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of between $5,500 and $7,000, 7 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded .22 caliber handgun, and $3,000 in cash.

Officials said Garcia’s three children, who range in age from 13 to 4 years old, were placed with Child Protective Services.

Two of the children were home when law enforcement officers executed the warrant, SCCACT officials said.

The anti-crime team was established in 2010 and is comprised of members from local and state law enforcement agencies, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office.
