Man Injured In Attack With Lumber, Police Say
Police say they found two guns in the man's car and are seeking to remove them from his possession.
SANTA CRUZ, CA — Police broke up a fight on the Felker Street footbridge Thursday afternoon after a man attacked a man with a two-inch by four-inch piece of lumber, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department. Chase Mason of Santa Cruz, 38, caused the man to have lacerations on his face and attacked him because Mason thought he threatened a relative, police said.
Mason was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
Police said they learned Mason had two guns in his car and recently shot himself in the leg while practicing his "quick draw." He had no way to secure the guns, police said.
