Man Hops Fence After Trying To Steal Mountain Bike: Santa Cruz

Santa Cruz County and Watsonville officials responded to an attempted bike theft overnight Tuesday.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A stranger entered the backyard of a home on the 700 block of Capitola Road overnight Saturday and tried to steal a mountain bike, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office. The resident got his bike back before the stranger hopped the fence and took off.

Sheriff's deputies set up a perimeter around the home, but couldn't find anyone. The Watsonville Police Department brought a K-9 to aid in the search.

The sheriff's office asks that anyone who sees suspicious activity report it to authorities.
