Santa Cruz County Man Killed In Tuesday Shooting

The 28-year-old was found with multiple gunshot wounds, sitting in the front passenger seat of a car, police said.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A 28-year-old Santa Cruz County man was fatally shot Tuesday in Santa Cruz, police said.

Police were initially called to Mission Street, north of Swift Street, at 1:15 p.m., but the man was found wounded in the passenger seat of a car parked at Mission Street and Fair Avenue, said Santa Cruz Police Lt. Warren Barry in a news release.

He was treated and taken to Dominican Hospital, where he died. The man's name has not yet been released, as law enforcement is notifying his family of his death.

The investigation temporarily shut down parts of Mission Street Tuesday.
