SCOTTS VALLEY, CA — A man rescued a California family's four pets after he discovered that their house was on fire while he was out jogging — and the moment was captured by a Ring security camera, NBC reported.

The man was jogging in a Scotts Valley neighborhood when he spotted smoke billowing from a house on the block. No one was home, but the man was able to contact homeowner Courtney Polito through her Ring camera.

"I saw him running back and forth," Polito told NBC's WTHR. "So I answered it and he said, 'Hello, do you see there's smoke coming out of the top of your house?'"
