Arrest In San Lorenzo River Levee Stabbing

Police are asking anyone with a home or business surveillance system near the incident to check their footage.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A nighttime stabbing along the San Lorenzo River levee Monday has investigators asking the public for possible video footage of the incident.

When police initially arrived at the scene shortly after 9 p.m., they found an adult male on the ground with multiple stab wounds near the San Lorenzo River levee and Soquel Avenue, according to the Santa Cruz Police Department.

The suspect fled the scene but was eventually found and arrested near Seabright andMurray, police said. He's been identified as 64-year-old Nick Mennick of Santa Cruz.

The victim was transported to an out-of-county hospital for treatment; his condition is unknown.

Now police are asking anyone who has a home or business surveillance system near the incident area to check their footage to see if they captured anything that may assist in the case.
