“Her solos are like jewels, all of which shine.”— Libération

Beal’s first local solo concert in 10 years, 40 Odd Moves! is a mix of theatrical works from the present and past in collaboration with composer Jon Scoville. Beal makes sense of this life by making moving images that blend dance, circus, and theatre.

With Scoville’s music, their work together is a web of ideas and images—a kinetic and conceptual palette of illusions and allusions combining the serious and the humorous.

Music videos by Denise Gallant and Brazilian film-maker Antonio Luiz Mendes are featured along with work by Sage Lee. Signature works such as Crazy Jane, Mysterious Barricades or the Plot without Thickener and The Place Where Canaries are Born will be shown alongside brand new works.
