Stolen U-Haul Traveled 2,800 Miles Before SCPD Stopped The Van

Delaware residents Cheryl Szenger and Leslie Szenger were arrested after officers stopped the stolen U-Haul van, police say.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — A stolen U-Haul traveled some 2,800 miles from Raleigh, North Carolina before Santa Cruz Police stopped and recovered the car Monday night at a gas station.

Leslie Szenger, 20, and Cheryl Szenger, 44, of Delaware were arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen car, police say. Cheryl Szenger initially provided a false name and later received an additional charge of false personation, police say.

Police saw the vehicle and stopped the car at the Mission Street 76 Gas Station, according to Santa Cruz Films, which photographs public safety responders and incidents.
