7th Annual PAL Charity Golf Classic Raises Approximately $90,000 For Santa Monica Police Activities League Programs

More Than 187 Golfers and Guests Participate; Santa Monica Police Deputy Chief Al Venegas, center, joined the tournament's winning golf team

More than 187 golfers and guests teed-up for the 7th Annual Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) Charity Golf Classic while raising approximately $90,000 on Monday, June 13, 2016, at MountatinGate Country Club in Los Angeles. Golfers included Santa Monica business professionals, Police Officers and at-large members of the Santa Monica community.

All proceeds raised from the 2016 PAL Charity Golf Classic benefits several youth programs that include PAL Educational Initiatives, PAL Arts Enrichment Projects and PAL Physical Fitness/Healthy Living Activities.

“This is one of our most successful and popular fundraising events that we do each year,” says Eula Fritz, Director at Santa Monica Police Activities League. “We have avid and novice golfers competing at every skill level that all have one goal, to raise much needed funds for a variety of PAL youth programs and the overall organization.”

The golf team sponsored by Judi Barker won the tournament and included teammembers Donny Hampton, Eddie Tael, Judi Barker, Bryan Crocker and Jeff Coggins.

The monies raised were generated from tournament sponsors, donations and entry fees. Major sponsors for this year’s tournament included Activision, Gibson Santa Monica, LA Vecchia Cucina, Le Meredian Delfina, Los Angeles Rams, Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Daily Press, Santa Monica Police Officers’ Association, Southern California Disposal & Recycling, The Huntley Beach Hotel, Turner Impact Capital and the Tyler Corporation.

The PAL 2016 Golf Classic Committee is comprised of PAL Board of Directors, City and Police Officials and Community leaders, and was spearheaded by Sergeant Rudy Flores of the Santa Monica Police Department. This year’s committee was tremendously successful and included Calisse Lindsey, Santa Monica Police Department, Noell Grant, PAL Officer and Santa Monica Police Department, Eula Fritz, Director at Santa Monica Police Activities League, Lauralee Asch, Santa Monica Police Department, Neil Carrey, Baker & Hostetler, LLP, Donna Gentry, Gentry Group, Debbie Anderson, Santa Monica Police Department, Adrienne Blackman, Michael Blackman & Assoc., Lynette Bonilla, PAL Alumni, Angel Diaz, SP Plus, Judi Barker, Santa Monica Air Center/ Barker Hangar, and Lynne Thomas, The Lobster.

The Santa Monica PAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe and supervised place for young people ages 6 through 17. PAL teaches skills, promotes self-respect and respect for others, and helps kids reach out to their peers and to adults. PAL provides free academic and cultural programs and a wide variety of recreational activities. Each year hundreds of youth learn to work and play in groups, with individual attention available whenever it is needed.
