Two LA men were arrested on suspicion of attempting to break in and steal bicycles from a Santa Monica bike shop, police said.
SANTA MONICA, CA — Two Los Angeles men accused of attempting to break in and burglarize a bicycle shop in Santa Monica were arrested, the Santa Monica Police Department announced Monday.
Officers responded to a burglary in process at a bike store in the 2900 block of Main Street at 5:26 a.m. Sunday, police said. The shop owner reported several people were inside the store and saw the burglary happening on a security camera.
Police set up a perimeter to search for the suspects.

Sergio Garcia, 19, and Chris Hernandez, 25, both of Los Angeles, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools and receiving stolen property.
Officers said Garcia was standing behind the shop near a sedan and unsuccessfully attempted to close the trunk of a vehicle with two bicycles sticking out, officials said. Hernandez ran away southbound down the alley west of Main Street and police apprehended him.

"The suspects used a bolt cutter or other tool to defeat the store’s security gate and then smashed the window with a hammer to gain access to the store," police said.
Three electric bikes were taken, two of them were recovered from a car and another was found in the alley nearby with store tags still attached.
"Also located in the trunk of the vehicle was an electric scooter identified by the store manager as having been stolen earlier in the week in a separate burglary at the same store," police said.
