Anais Mitchell is a rising star in the Folk and Singer-Songwriter world. After multiple sold out shows at McCabes, she made her debut at the Broad Stage last season opening up for Colin Hay. In 2010 Righteous Babe Records released the recorded version of her folk opera Hadestown, a modern retelling of the Orpheus myth, featuring guest singers Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Ani Difranco and Greg Brown. The album became something of a critical phenomenon in the UK, making "Best of 2010" lists in the Guardian, Sunday Times and Observer.
Mitchell’s newest album “Young Man,” features an all-star cast of guests including Chris Thile (Nickel Creek, Punch Brothers), Jenny Scheinman (Lucinda Williams,), and drummers Andrew Borger (Norah Jones) and Kenny Wollesen (Tom Waits). This fabulous concert will feature Anais leading her own four-piece group in the intimate Edye Theater. Long time collaborator and cohort John Elliott will be joining Mitchell this evening.
