Fire Damages Santa Monica Apartments; 12 Residents Displaced
The fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. in the area of Ashland Avenue and Third Street, according to officials.

SANTA MONICA, CA – Twelve residents were displaced from their apartment building after a fire damaged it Thursday morning. The fire was reported shortly after 2 a.m. in the area of Ashland Avenue and Third Street, said Deputy Fire Chief Tom Clemo of the Santa Monica Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and saw flames coming from the second and third floors of the building; they put out the fire in 30 minutes, Clemo said.
The fire was confined to a single apartment and no one was injured, he said. All twelve of the displaced residents found shelter with either family or friends, Clemo said.
