Stolen Audi Crash Uncovers 3 Loaded Guns, Ghost Guns In Santa Monica (patch.com) — Santa Monica police, targeting catalytic converter thefts, tracked a previously spotted black Audi that later crashed near Second Street and Colorado Avenue, sparking a foot chase and multiple arrests. Officers then intercepted a backpack being passed between bystanders, recovering three loaded handguns, including two ghost guns, and linking the Audi to an LAPD-identified armed carjacking. The case highlights SMPD's use of SMART Center technology and coordination with other agencies to remove weapons from local streets.
   

2. Report Of Man With Gun Sparks Police Search At Santa Monica College (patch.com) — A weekend report of a man with a gun in his waistband near Santa Monica College's 14th Street side triggered a large police response and campus perimeter search. Santa Monica police and campus officers did not find the individual or any weapon and say the account remains unverified. Proposed 12-story tower near SMC could become one of Santa Monica's tallest residential buildings (smmirror.com) — A 12-story, 138-foot mass timber tower is proposed for 1517 15th Street near the 17th Street/SMC E Line station, potentially becoming one of Santa Monica's tallest residential buildings. The project would add 32 units with no on-site parking, using new transit housing laws while reserving six units as income-restricted housing.
