The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of multiple sexual assaults in the LA area.

LOS ANGELES, CA — An alleged Los Angeles area serial rapist is on the run from police and is considered armed and dangerous, the Federal Bureau of Investigation warned Friday.

The FBI is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Greg Alyn Carlson, a former Santa Monica resident. According to investigators, Carlson is behind multiple sexual assaults in the LA area, and he was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in September on suspicion of burglary, assault with intent to commit rape, and assault with a deadly weapon, said Laura Eimiller, FBI spokeswoman. He posted bond later that month was released and fled to South Carolina, Eimiller said

Carlson allegedly fled to a family home in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and then fled with a stolen handgun, a rental car, and a significant amount of cash, according to the FBI.

Carlson is in his mid-40s, and he's originally from the Washington, D.C. For a time, he lived in Santa Monica, and is known to have used aliases including Greg A. Carlson and Greg Alym Carlson Eimiller said.

Carlson is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, and has brown hair and green eyes. He may be in possession of a stolen handgun, and may be driving a stolen white four-door 2017 Hyundai Accent rental car with South Carolina license plate NKI-770.

He was seen in Hoover, Alabama, on Nov. 22, 2017. Police there almost caught Carlson, but he evaded capture with a high speed chase, according to the FBI.

"When police attempted to stop him, Carlson allegedly led them on an erratic, high-speed pursuit that was terminated by the police due to the danger to the public," Eimiller said.

Carlson has since been seen in Jacksonville, Florida, on Nov. 28, 2017, and in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Nov. 30, 2017.

An arrest warrant was issued for Carlson in Los Angeles County in September of 2017, and a federal arrest warrant was issued in the Central District of California in December of 2017, when he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts was asked by the FBI to contact the nearest FBI field office or their local law enforcement agency.
