St. Monica High School Names New Principal
James Spellman has been named the new principal of St. Monica Catholic High School for the upcoming school year, which starts August 21.

SANTA MONICA, CA – James Spellman has been named the new principal of St.Monica Catholic High School to start the 2017-2018 school year off. Spellman, who has served as an administrator at Catholic high schools for more than 15 years, was previously the assistant principal at Immaculate Heart High School & Middle School in Los Angeles, according to the press release.
Spellman has helped lead to achievements of operational and performance goals through "energetic, hands-on and solution driven leadership," the statement said, and has inspired the implementation of lifelong learning values and behaviors. Spellman has demonstrated commitment to the professional development of faculty and will be a strong asset in preparing students for "21st century learning," Thom Gasper, president of St. Monica Catholic Schools said.
“I am excited to join St. Monica, a school that lives its mission and creates a cohesive educational experience for a diverse range of learners who graduate prepared for success in college and beyond,” Spellman said in a press release. “Within the safe and inclusive community of SMCHS, it is my belief that all of our students can and will achieve their highest potential.”

Spellman’s installation will be celebrated during aMass celebrating the Feast of St. Monica on August 28. He holds a Master’s Degree in Secondary School Administration from Loyola Marymount University, a Master of Arts in Middle and Secondary Education from New York City College, and Bachelor of Arts in History from Marist College.
