LAKESIDE, CA — Crews halted the spread of a brush fire Monday in Lakeside.

The blaze, called the Canyon Fire, sparked in the 11000 block of Wildcat Canyon Road, near Muth Valley, according to Cal Fire San Diego. The fire scorched nine acres before crews halted the spread.

Wildcat Canyon Road was closed to traffic while firefighters worked to build containment.
