Santee Drive-In Theatre To Reopen After Coronavirus Closure

Santee Drive-In Theatre​ is slated to reopen after shutting down about two months ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SANTEE, CA — Santee Drive-In Theatre is slated to reopen Friday after shutting down nearly two months ago due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The snack bar will remain closed, but movie-goers are allowed to bring their own snacks, according to Santee Drive-In Theatre. Customers are required to stay inside their vehicles, and park 10 feet away from other vehicles. Customers are also advised to wear a mask and maintain social distancing when outside of their vehicle, as well as wash hands with soap and water after using the restrooms.

The double features "Trolls World Tour" and "Onward" are set to play on the first screen, along with "The Invisible Man" and "The Hunt" on the second screen. The movies are scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m.

Santee Drive-In Theatre closed March 17 amid social distancing guidelines and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Management feels this is the responsible action to protect our employees and the public at this time," the business posted on Facebook at the time. "Thank you for your understanding and continued patronage."

Santee Drive-In Theatre is located at 10990 N. Woodside Ave.

South Bay Drive-In Theatre at 2170 Coronado Ave. in San Diego reopened May 8.
