Beaches Reopen In Carlsbad, Del Mar And Solana Beach

City beaches in Carlsbad, Del Mar and Solana Beach reopened Monday along with state beaches in Carlsbad and Torrey Pines.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — City beaches in Carlsbad, Del Mar and Solana Beach reopened Monday along with state beaches in Carlsbad and Torrey Pines after the coastline was closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Beachgoers were allowed to walk and run on the sand, as well as swim, surf, kayak and paddleboard in the ocean. Group gatherings and sitting and lying down on the beach remained prohibited. Parking lots also remained closed.

Many beaches in San Diego County reopened last week after county officials further eased restrictions put in place due to the pandemic. Beaches in San Diego, Coronado, Encinitas, Imperial Beach and Oceanside reopened April 27 for recreational activities.

On Monday, parks and trails in the city of Carlsbad also reopened for walking, running and sitting on the grass. Parking lots at the parks opened at half-capacity.

The Lake Poway Recreation Area reopened Sunday. Parking lots at Lake Poway opened at half-capacity. The playground remained closed and active sports were limited to people within the same household. Boating was also not allowed.
