State Route 67 Reopens Ahead of Schedule

A stretch of the roadway in Lakeside was originally expected to remain closed until Monday morning.

LAKESIDE, CA: The stretch of state Route 67 in Lakeside that had been closed since Friday for work on a flood control project, opened Sunday afternoon ahead of schedule.

The southbound side of the highway from Mapleview Street to Riverford Road was closed at 10 p.m. Friday and was scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday. The northbound lanes remained open, according to Caltrans.

The highway was closed so crews could place a large box culvert underneath it, which required the excavation and removal of large boulders that were in the way of the county flood control improvement project.
