Woman Seriously Injured After Struck By Car In Santee

The crash was reported about 5:35 p.m. Friday near a 7-Eleven store at 10710 Woodside Avenue.

SANTEE, CA – A woman in her 50s was seriously injured Friday when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Santee.

The crash was reported about 5:35 p.m. near a 7-Eleven store at 10710 Woodside Ave., said San Diego County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mike McNeill.

The woman crossed Magnolia Avenue westbound out of the convenience store's parking lot when she was struck by a silver 2007 Ford Fusion in the No.1 lane, McNeill said.

The woman was crossing outside of the crosswalk, which was just south of her at Woodside Avenue, and northbound traffic on Magnolia had a green traffic signal, according to McNeill.

The woman sustained major injuries to her head and upper body as a result of the crash and was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital, McNeill said.

The 79-year-old driver of the Ford remained at the scene and was not injured.
